Norrie came into my Rio studio to celebrate her first birthday. Her mama had given me complete creative control on her session. At this point in time, I was transitioning from elaborate setups with balloons and props to a simplistic and timeless cake smash session.

I 100% do not regret this transition and to be honest most parents have found that they enjoy the timless and simple cake smashes so much more.

We started Norrie’s session with a beautiful neutral colored backdrop and a simple but sweet outfit to match. Norrie gave all of the best smiles and was full of happiness during her solo portraits part of the session. Throughout her solo portraits, Norrie was able to sit on a beautiful wooden box and sit in an adorable basekt.

Norrie absolutely enjoyed smashing her custom cake from a local baker out of Rio. Her custom lace romper and bonnet went perfectly with her beautiful cake with hints of pink.

Elliot’s mama had reached out to me for a maternity and newborn photography package to document this super special time in her and her husband’s life.

We met up at a beautiful park in Dane County, Wisconsin on a perfect evening with the best sunset. Their maternity portraits were filled with love, laughter and dancing.

A few weeks later, their sweet boy had joined the world with a complete full head of hair.

Abigail and I compared schedules and found a morning that worked well for them to come in for their first family session- a newborn portrait session in my cozy Rio studio.

Sweet Elliot with a head full of hair arrived to my warm and welcoming studio. His parents relaxed while I photographed their most special human.

Getting to photograph a family’s baby is such an honor and quite frankly a dream job. I could not imagine not photographing families from their maternity session all the way through baby’s first year.
