Babies grow SO fast. As parents, we spend so much time wishing we could freeze time, to have those first moments back. I think of my three children and often wish I could get back the first smiles, hear their laugh again for the first time. Being a parent is so special but time is a thief and is not on our side.

Milestone sessions offer a wonderful way to “freeze” time. These sessions are simple, classic and timeless.

The look of curiosity and joy in their faces makes for the most meaningful and beautiful images of your child. As your child grows from being a baby into full blown toddler and one day a teenager or adult getting married- these images become family heirlooms. One day when your baby is an adult of their own with children, they can show these photographs. Compare their facial features to those of their children or grandchildren.

Brett came into the Pardeeville, WI Studio for his 9 month milestone session and it was absolutely perfect. His session took place around the time of Easter so we included some adorable orange felt carrots into his session.

As he played with the curtains and the wooden stacking toy, he was filled with absolute joy and looked at his mama with admiration.

WHEN ARE SESSIONS HELD?

Milestone sessions take place at 4 months, 6 months, 8 months or 1 Year Cake Smash. Some parents want when their baby has developed more of a personality and can sit unassisted where others like to document their baby at all stages.

DO I BRING ANY CLOTHES?

You certainly don’t need to. I will be honest, I have a shopping problem for Mini Client Wardrobe pieces making it so much easier for my clients. I have clothing in all sizes to fit the smallest and biggest of my mini clients. You can of course bring something but please send a photo a few days ahead of time to help me better prepare.

WHERE DOES THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?

I offer two separate studio locations. My main studio in in Rio, Wisconsin. The second studio location is in Pardeeville, WI.

Rio offers crisp lighting, solid backdrops.

Pardeeville offers a daylight, bright and airy aesthetic.

ARE THERE THEMES TO YOUR SETS?

There are not themes to any of my sets. My milestone sessions are strictly minimalistic.

WHAT IF MY BABY CRIES?

Some babies do. This is a time in a baby’s life where they are hitting the “stranger danger” faze and are more unsure of me. We can typically get some great shots though.

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS GETTING OVER A COLD?

If your child is getting over a cold or currently has a cold, please reschedule with me. I do not charge a rescheduling fee for sick kids or parents. I have so many tiny humans in my studio that I try to keep it as germ free as possible. If you are worried about the cake, don’t- they freeze!

IF I WANT TO BOOK ALL OF THE MILESTONE SESSIONS, DO YOU BUNDLE?

Absolutely. I love the fact that you want to document all of those milestones. Let’s save you some money!

DO CAKE SMASHES HAVE THEMES OR BALLOONS?

Cake Smashes do not have themes or balloon arches.

DO YOU PROVIDE OUTFITS FOR CAKE SMASHES?

I sure do. Many clients choose to not purchase anything for the cake smashes because I have such a wide variety.

DO YOU PROVIDE THE CAKE FOR THE CAKE SMASH?

The cake is included unless your child has dietary restrictions/allergies. Then I ask parents to bring in the cake. I can give some great bakeries if you need assistance.

WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE MY CAKE SMASH GO BETTER?

I always recommend that parents introduce their baby to cake/frosting prior to their cake smash just to get them used to it.

Bring snacks such as puffs to hide behind the cake to get your baby to grab those if they are not showing interest in the cake.

Bring a bottle/sippy as they tend to want a drink.

HOW LONG DO THE SESSIONS LAST?

Milestone Sessions are usually under thirty minutes. 1-2 Setups and 1-2 Outfits. This can change pending baby’s mood. Some babies are super great with it and we can get in a third outfit, other babies are done after one outfit.

The holidays are coming and so is The Holiday Experience.

This session is filled with beautiful memories of you and your family. Dress your best if you would like or have fun in some holiday jammies.

Cake Smash Sessions + Milestone Sessions are some of my most booked sessions during the year. I see a lot of my newborn photography session clients again for these exciting milestones. I also get to meet new faces for these sessions.

I have been obsessed with photographing babies for as long as I have been in business. Actually, I have loved photographing babies since I had my first kid fifteen years ago. The difference? I was not a professional. I did not own a professional camera. I used a point and shoot camera (not very well either) and of course whichever phone I had at the time. I look back to those pictures now and I see a few things. The pictures still mean a lot to me because they are of my kid. The pictures hold onto the time that I no longer have as he grows older. I also see how the coloring is weird, the pictures are fuzzy or blurry. Cell phone pictures then were great but as time has evolved, they are now considered terrible quality.

I have considered what I want to do to help families get beautiful pictures of their kids and I came up with Flash Sale. It has done so well so far and so many families are booking. I love that they are not only getting pictures done but they are investing in beautiful portraits that will one day be passed down to generations. Family Heirlooms mean so much to so many people. My children are 15, 7 and 5, all three love seeing family pictures. The kids love seeing mom and dad when they were little, pictures of their grandparents and great grandparents. Seeing life before they were born is so intriguing to them.
