Andrea and Tatum joined me in the Pardeeville studio location for a motherhood session. Let me tell you, it was incredibly fun!

Andrea and Tatum’s wardrobe was selected from the studio client wardrobe. The pieces are timeless, classic and honestly minimalistic in the best way.

The session started off with portraits of Tatum by herself, showcasing her incredible personality. We chatted about movies, what she likes to do at home for fun and about her days at school.

When Andrea joined in, they danced, laughed, snuggled and enjoyed their time together to the fullest extent.

The main purpose of motherhood sessions is to capture those emotive and beautiful moments between a child and their mother.

Let’s be realistic, motherhood is tough, sometimes brutal but it is the most rewarding job there could ever be.

A few questions that I get asked:

Do you provide wardrobe?

-I do. The studio offers a variety of wardrobe for mamas and children to both wear depending on the size.

Can you help me find places to shop for my session?

-Absolutely. I also have a blog related to this with links to stores. It is incredibly helpful.

Is there an age limit?

-Nope. Motherhood doesn’t have an age and neither do the ranges for kiddos to be. I don’t ever want mamas to feel that their baby is to old or young for a session.

Milestone sessions are one of a kind and to be frank- they are a blast full of personality.

Your baby at one time was this itty bitty little human and now they are growing, learning new things, developing a whole personality and I bet you anything- you are loving it!

Many families choose to do milestone sessions every few months after the newborn session while others choose to wait until their baby hits a few really important milestones.

-Sitting unassisted.

-Laughing

-Rolling over.

Either way, it is an absolute blast.

When booking your milestone session, give some thought as to what you really want showcased. Do you want your sitting and laughing in their pictures? Do you want your baby to be laying on a solid backdrop or wood planks showcasing their sweet smiles?

Let’s face it- the time is fleeting. The memories will fade. Take it from me, I am a mama of three but as the years go by, I slowly forget the small things that I wish I had written down, taken videos of, captured more with photos.

I truly miss those moments.

The session can take place in either the Rio or Pardeeville locations. It just depends on your vibe or aesthetic.

-The Rio studio tends to be more of a rich tone with seamless paper and props.

-The Pardeeville studio is bright and airy with minimal prop use.

A few common questions that I get asked about milestone sessions are:

What if my baby doesn’t smile?

-To be honest, not all babies smile. Some babies hate me (haha, kind of joking), some babies only want their parent. It is all completely natural. Not every baby is the same, not every baby cries or laughs and some have a variety of emotions.

Do I need to bring anything?

-Nope! The studios are fully stocked with outfits for your little to wear during their session.

How do you make my baby smile?

-We play music- sometimes it is nursery rhymes other times it is music that the baby’s parents listen too that baby enjoys. I have had a variety of music ranging from nursery rhymes to Elvis and Eminem.

-I always encourage to sit on the floor behind me and play games, make funny faces and encourage your little to smile.

Welcome to the Pardeeville Studio!

I am thrilled to have opened a second studio for Finch & Mae. This studio is entirely different than the Rio location but it is still just as wonderful and a whole lot of fun.

The Pardeeville Studio location offers beautiful “natural light”, intimate moments and a more hands on approach for newborn sessions. Newborn sessions are focused more on the intimate and raw emotions of having a newborn. We don’t focus on if your baby sleeps, neutral and earth tone colors with minimal prop usage like you may see coming from the Rio studio.

Milestone sessions are still just as fun with a little more of a home like feeling added in. Typically milestone sessions are with a solid backdrop but I am so excited to add in such a timeless and neutral toned aesthetic.

Family and Motherhood Sessions are going to be absolutely perfect. The studio is the best size for these sweet sessions and to be honest, the lighting is incredible.

Documenting that sweet baby that you waited so long for is truly so amazing. The excitement of a newborn does not just stop with the newborn phase but it continues every single day as your baby learns new things.

The core memories of being a parent are things like the first smile, the first giggle, crawling, cruising furniture, first steps and beyond. The excitement does not leave.

I will be honest, I love documenting babies throughout their first year. I love seeing so many amazing personalities, hearing the giggles, watching them clap and roll over. It brings me back to when my three children were that age. The overwhelming fun that a baby in the first year can be. Hearing parents stories and watching their faces light up as they tell me about all their baby can do.

It is damn magical!
