When should you reserve your newborn photographer?

-This is honestly one of the most asked questions and my answer is always the same. You should book as soon as you are able. I recommend within the second trimester.

Why do I recommend booking your newborn session in your second trimester?

-Photographers can fill up their calendars quickly. I only take on a certain amount of newborn sessions, milestone sessions, maternity sessions and cake smash sessions per month. I do this to allow myself the flexibility of scheduling families but also to ensure that I can help families with planning.

When should you book your Madison, WI maternity session?

– I recommend booking at the end of your first trimester on beginning of your second trimester. Maternity sessions are held at 28-32 weeks so by booking earlier, it gives us the flexibility to find an outdoor location if needed, plan wardrobes and do a wardrobe try-on in the studio. We also book maternity sessions sooner so mama feels her best, as pregnancy progresses, many women swell or run the risk of preterm labor.

-Can you book your maternity and newborn sessions together?

-Absolutely. Let’s do it and you will save money.

-Can you book a Baby Plan to cover maternity through one year?

-I honestly stress this to families. My Baby Plans allow you to book your maternity session, make your retainer payment and then make monthly payments all the way until your baby is 11 months old. You receive maternity, newborn (Family Included), 6 month milestone and One Year Cake Smash plus a complimentary motherhood session. By breaking it down into monthly payments, it i super affordable + you receive full galleries from each session.

What if you don’t know the date your baby will be born?

-Unless you have a scheduled c-section or induction, you won’t know and that is just fine. When you book your newborn session, I simply put your due date down on my calendar to reserve your spot. When you have baby, I recommend reaching out in the hospital to schedule your session. I don’t recommend waiting until you get home, as we tend to lose track of time. You are in the trenches of late night feedings and diaper changes – I am the last thing on your mind.

What age do I schedule your Madison area newborn session?

-Newborns come into the studio between 5 and 21 days. Your newborn is the most sleepiest at this time.

What if you already had your baby?

-Reach out as soon as possible and I will see if I can get your baby in.

-Finch & Mae Studio is located at 204 Lincoln Ave. Rio, WI.

Can siblings stay for the entire newborn session?

-I actually have siblings head out after the family portion is finished (we start with family). I try to keep the studio quiet for newborns so they sleep more soundly. Rio offers a wonderful public library, Fireman’s Park, Mama Chaz’s Diner and LR’s Bar to venture out to.

Can parents and sibling participate?

-I offer a Wrapped Mini – this is baby only however the Heirloom Newborn Collection does come with parent and sibling poses as well as they Baby Plan.

What do you provide for newborn sessions?

-The studio is fully stocked with wraps, bonnets, headbands, baby outfits, buckets, baskets, props and more. I also have a client wardrobe that mamas are more than welcome to utilize for their session.

Can I book a maternity session by itself?

-You cannot. Maternity sessions are an add-on for newborn sessions or you can use a maternity session with your Baby Plan.

Does anything come with a newborn session?

-All newborn sessions come with a complimentary 6 month milestone session and a 10% off a One Year Cake Smash with booking. If you choose to add the cake smash on, we can adjust your invoice to reflect that and allow additional monthly payments.
